Givens Law Group, LLC ("the Firm," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This notice explains what information we collect through our website, www.centrelawyer.com, and through our communications with you, including text messages, and how we use and protect it.

Nothing in this notice creates an attorney-client relationship. Information you share before we agree to represent you is still kept confidential as required by the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct.

Information we collect and how we use it

We collect only the information you choose to give us, such as when you call, email, text, fill out a form, or meet with us. This may include:

  • Your name, mailing address, email address, and phone number (including mobile number)

  • Details about your legal matter, real estate transaction, or closing

  • Information needed for a closing, such as lender, title, and property details

We use this information only to respond to you, provide legal and closing services, schedule appointments and closings, send updates about your matter, and meet our legal and professional obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Our website host may automatically collect basic technical data (such as browser type and pages visited) to operate and secure the site. We do not use it to identify you.

Text messaging (SMS)

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, Givens Law Group may send you text messages about your matter. You can agree verbally, in writing, on an intake or engagement form, or by texting us first.

  • Message types: appointment and closing reminders, scheduling, document requests, and updates about your matter. We do not send marketing texts.

  • Frequency: varies based on your matter.

  • Cost: message and data rates may apply.

  • Opt out: reply STOP at any time. Once we receive your message, you will no longer receive further text messages from us. You can opt back in by replying START.

  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. We share your number only with the service provider that delivers our messages (Clio), solely to send them.

Text messages are not a fully secure channel. Please do not text sensitive information such as Social Security or bank account numbers; call us or use a secure method instead.

Wire fraud warning

We will never send or change wiring instructions by text message or email. Criminals target real estate closings by hacking or imitating emails and texts from attorneys, title companies, lenders, and real estate agents, then sending fake wiring instructions. Wired funds are often impossible to recover.

Before you wire any money to us or for your closing:

  • Call our office at (256) 927-7490 to confirm the wiring instructions verbally. Use this number or one you already know is ours, never a number from the message you received.

  • Treat any message saying our wiring instructions have changed as fraud until you confirm it by phone.

  • After sending a wire, call us to confirm it was received.

Sharing and confidentiality

We keep client information confidential. We share it only as needed to handle your matter (for example, with lenders, title insurers, courts, or opposing parties), with service providers bound to protect it (such as our practice-management and messaging software), when you authorize it, or when the law requires it.

We may update this notice from time to time. The effective date below shows when it was last revised.
